Welcome to the BalancePoint Calculator ("we," "our," or "us"). We respect your privacy and are committed to protecting the information you may provide while using our tool at hvacbalancepoint.com.

1. Information We Collect

We collect minimal information necessary to provide our calculation services:

• Account Information: When you register, we collect your name and email address to create and manage your account.
• Utility and Energy Data: We store the utility billing data, CSV uploads, and energy consumption figures you provide in order to perform heating load calculations and generate reports. This data is associated with your account and retained to allow you to revisit past analyses.
• Voluntary Input: We collect the data you enter into the calculator (such as temperatures, loads, and equipment specs) solely to perform the calculation.
• Log Data: Our hosting provider (Microsoft Azure) automatically collects standard log files, which may include IP addresses, browser types, and access times.

2. How We Use Your Information

• To provide the calculation results you request.
• To monitor and maintain the stability of our application.
• We do not sell or rent your data to third parties.

3. Cookies & Local Storage

We use a few first-party cookies and browser local storage only to keep you signed in and remember preferences such as your last selected home and login method. We do not use third-party, advertising, or analytics trackers, and we do not sell or share this data. You can clear it any time in your browser settings.

4. Payment Processing

Token purchases are processed by Stripe. BalancePoint never receives, stores, or has access to your credit card number or payment details. Stripe collects and processes your billing information directly and subject to their own Privacy Policy. We receive only a transaction confirmation and the number of tokens to credit to your account.

5. Third-Party Hosting

This application is hosted on Microsoft Azure. By using this service, you acknowledge that your data passes through Azure's infrastructure.

6. Data Sources & Required Attribution

BalancePoint retrieves data from the following external sources. Attribution is required by their respective licenses:

• NOAA/NCEI: Historical hourly weather observations are retrieved from NOAA's National Centers for Environmental Information (NCEI) Integrated Surface Database (ISD).
• Open-Meteo (CC BY 4.0) — Historical weather data used as a fallback when NOAA station coverage is incomplete. Data provided under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License.
• NEEP: Heat pump performance data is sourced from the Northeast Energy Efficiency Partnerships (NEEP) Cold Climate Air Source Heat Pump List.
